Unexpected step from Apple for cheap iPhone SE 4!

Ana sayfa / Smartphones

Apple is preparing to take a significant step towards reducing its dependency on Qualcomm. The affordable iPhone SE 4, expected to be released in early 2025, will be equipped with Apple’s own 5G modem.

This move marks the first time Apple’s own cellular connectivity solution will be used on an iPhone. Apple currently uses Qualcomm’s 5G modems in all of its iPhone models. However, the company has been working to reduce this dependency by developing its own modem technologies for a long time.

Apple’s senior executive Johny Srouji has previously confirmed the company’s intention to produce a dedicated cellular chip. The iPhone SE 4 seems like an ideal opportunity for Apple’s own 5G modem. It could also offer cost savings over Qualcomm’s solutions, as it is more affordable.

Apple’s M4 Max chip impresses with its performance!

Earlier, analyst Jeff Pu noted that an in-house modem could significantly reduce costs compared to Qualcomm’s $28 per unit pricing. This is a critical factor for the affordable SE series.

Apple’s solution is not expected to improve the end-user experience, but it will give the company more control over hardware and software integration. It can optimize elements such as battery life management. The iPhone SE 4 is expected to start production in December and be released in early 2024.
